Kontrabasistka Andrea Gehring prihaja iz majhne vasi v Črnem gozdu v jugozahodni Nemčiji. Študij glasbe jo je vodil v Trossingen (pri prof. Ovidiuu Badili), Köln (pri prof. Veit-Petru Schüsslerju) in Cardiff. Diplomirala je tudi iz violine/stare glasbe pri prof. Vittoriu Ghielmiju.
Nastopala je z znanimi evropskimi orkestri, kot so Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Camerata Salzburg, Stuttgartski državni orkester, Stuttgartski radijski simfonični orkester, Bremenski filharmonični orkester, Gürzenich Orchestra Köln, Kraljevi liverpoolski filharmonični orkester in Rotterdamski filharmonični orkester. Imela je tudi stalno zaposlitev v Koroškem simfoničnem orkestru.
Med študijem je začela poučevati zasebno in na glasbenih šolah po vsej Nemčiji. Od leta 2013 je profesorica kontrabasa na Zasebni glasbeni univerzi Gustav Mahler (prej Koroški državni konservatorij) v Celovcu. Poleg pedagoške kariere ostaja aktivna na področju stare glasbe, saj nastopa z različnimi orkestri in komornimi ansambli.
Double bassist Andrea Gehring hails from a small village in the Black Forest in southwest Germany. Her musical studies took her to Trossingen (with Prof. Ovidiu Badila), Cologne (with Prof. Veit-Peter Schüssler), and Cardiff. She also earned a degree in Violone/early music under Prof. Vittorio Ghielmi.
She has performed with renowned European orchestras such as the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Camerata Salzburg, Stuttgart State Orchestra, Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra, Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. She also held a permanent position with the Carinthian Symphony Orchestra.
During her studies, she began teaching privately as well as at music schools throughout Germany. Since 2013, she has been Professor of Double Bass at the Gustav Mahler Private University for Music (formerly the Carinthian State Conservatory) in Klagenfurt. Alongside her teaching career, she remains active in the field of early music, performing with various orchestras and chamber music ensembles.
